Karrie Clay, who most recently worked at Tri-County Mental Health and Counseling Services in Athens, Ohio, has been named Marietta College's new college counselor, according to Lon Vickers, Dean of Student Life.
Clay, who is working with Dr. Michael Harding, began her duties at MC on Oct. 12.
"We are pleased to have Karrie as part of our counseling services team at Marietta College," Vickers said.
Clay was the outpatient child and adolescent counselor at Tri-County Mental Health and Counseling Services from March of 2000 until her arrival at Marietta College. During that time she provided individual mental health and substance abuse counseling and assessments for children and adolescents. She also developed and facilitated groups and participated in multidisciplinary team meetings to enhance treatment efforts.
She has also worked as a clinician and social worker with Veteran's Memorial Hospital in Pomeroy, Ohio, and as a clinician with Health Recovery Services in Athens.
Clay earned her master's degree in counselor education from Ohio University in 1999, and a bachelor's degree in psychology from OU in 1997. She has also volunteered in Athens with the Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Team and the George E. Hill Center.
