The Class of 2015 completed their first procession together into Dyson Baudo Recreation Center on a pleasant and sunny Sunday in Marietta.
Striding two-by-two down the hallway onto Fenton Court, the 380 first-year students were joined by about 75 faculty as they officially became Pioneers on Sunday, Aug. 28, during the annual Matriculation Ceremony on Fenton Court.
This marks the ninth consecutive fall the College has matriculated at least 375 new students. Marietta’s Office of Admission expects around 425 total new students will join Marietta this fall, studying in one of the 44 majors offered. The College’s overall enrollment has increased to more than 1,500, which includes continuing education and graduate programs.
Following the Matriculation ceremony, which included messages from President Jean Scott, Interim Provost Gama Perruci, Vice President for Student Life Bob Pastoor and Student Senate President Ryan Nolen ’12, the entire student body was invited to an All-Campus Barbecue on the Christy Mall. More than 800 students attended the festive, and seasonably nice celebration.
On Monday, Aug. 29, all classes begin for the fall semester. The College conducts a fall break from Oct. 8-11 and celebrates Homecoming from Oct. 14-16. The fall final exams are Dec. 12-16. The spring semester begins Jan. 16.
For those really planning ahead, Spring Break is March 10-18 and the 175th Commencement is on May 13.
