Dates changed for two Esbenshade Series programs in February

jake-runestadTwo performances in Marietta College’s Frederica G. Esbenshade Series have been rescheduled in February to accommodate a conflict with the performers.

An Evening with Jake Runestad, an award-winning composer, with the Marietta College Choir has been moved from Feb. 1 to Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m. Considered, “highly imaginative… with big ideas” (Baltimore Sun) and “stirring and uplifting” (Miami Herald), Runestad has acquired the reputation as one of the most creative and innovative composers of his generation. The evening’s performance will include some of Runestad’s choral works presented by the Concert Choir (Daniel G Monek, conductor) and will feature the world premiere of a new work written especially for this occasion.

In Memoriam: Dr. Richard M. Krause — 1925-2015

richard-krauseFor nearly every one of his 90 years, Dr. Richard M. Krause ’47 was a Marietta College Pioneer. Krause, one of Marietta’s most famous alumni, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, after a short illness near Washington, D.C.

“We are saddened to hear about the passing of Dr. Krause. He was not only one of our most illustrious graduates but also a strong supporter of Marietta College and the liberal arts education,” said Marietta College President Joseph W. Bruno. “Diane and I enjoyed our multiple interactions with Dr. Krause since we joined the Marietta family — most recently in November when he gifted more of his prized art collection to the College. Our condolences to all of his family and friends who mourn the loss of such a great person.”

College presents Christmas concert at St. Mary on Dec. 14


music-sheetMarietta College’s is excited to present the sixth annual Christmas with the Concert Choir and Orchestra at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 14.

“The choir members raise all of the funds for the concert,” said Dr. Daniel G. Monek, Chair of the Department of Music at Marietta College. “The choir views this as their gift to the community for the support they receive all year long.”
