In Memoriam: Dr. Richard M. Krause — 1925-2015

richard-krauseFor nearly every one of his 90 years, Dr. Richard M. Krause ’47 was a Marietta College Pioneer. Krause, one of Marietta’s most famous alumni, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, after a short illness near Washington, D.C.

“We are saddened to hear about the passing of Dr. Krause. He was not only one of our most illustrious graduates but also a strong supporter of Marietta College and the liberal arts education,” said Marietta College President Joseph W. Bruno. “Diane and I enjoyed our multiple interactions with Dr. Krause since we joined the Marietta family — most recently in November when he gifted more of his prized art collection to the College. Our condolences to all of his family and friends who mourn the loss of such a great person.”

december-graduation1What it lacks in pomp and circumstance, Marietta College’s annual December Graduation Celebration more than delivers on the personal touch of completing degree requirements.

The College anticipates as many as 40 students will be honored for earning a degree in one of 45 majors. There are also two students who have finished the requirements for an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts. The informal ceremony begins at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 7, in the Alma McDonough Auditorium.
